About the Role
A nationally recognized Energy Services Company is seeking Controls Engineers II (2 openings) to support
its growing smart building and energy efficiency division in Columbus, OH. This role offers hybrid flexibility—
primarily remote with required on-site visits for project management, installation, and commissioning. You’ll work
with advanced building automation platforms (Tridium/Niagara, Distech, Reliable) to deliver turnkey BAS solutions
that reduce client energy usage and operating costs.
Position Details
- Title: Controls Engineer II
- Location: Greater Columbus, OH (Hybrid/Remote with site work)
- Compensation: $80,000 – $110,000 DOE
- Bonus: Starting at 10% annual incentives with accelerators
- Travel: ~20% to local client sites
- Focus: Tridium/Niagara required; Distech and Reliable experience a plus
Key Responsibilities
- Program, design, and manage Building Automation Systems (BAS) architecture using AutoCAD
- Develop Sequences of Operation and configure controllers using Tridium/Niagara frameworks
- Coordinate and oversee BAS projects, subcontractors, and installations
- Conduct site walks, determine client requirements, and provide estimates and bills of materials
- Analyze contract documents, specifications, submittals, and control drawings
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients on design, programming, and commissioning
- Provide troubleshooting and corrective actions on BAS systems in the field
- Support project schedules, budgets, and ensure on-time service delivery
- Prepare detailed technical designs and submittals for client approval
Ideal Candidate
- Experience as a Controls Engineer, BAS Engineer, or similar role
- Hands-on Tridium/Niagara programming experience (required)
- Ability to work with BAS product lines (Distech, Reliable, Honeywell, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls integration, and energy management
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and ability to interpret mechanical/electrical specifications
- Excellent client communication and project coordination skills
- Must reside in the greater Columbus area
