Fire Sprinkler Designer/ Fire Protection System Designer
A well-established *fire sprinkler subcontractor based in Knoxville, TN *is seeking an experienced *Fire Sprinkler Designer/ Fire Protection System Designer *to join our growing team. We have *40+ years of proven success *in the fire protection industry and are *licensed and actively operating in seven (7) southeastern states.*
We specialize in commercial and industrial fire sprinkler systems and are known for long-term client relationships, technical expertise, and consistent project flow.
Position Summary
The Fire Sprinkler Designer will be responsible for the *design, layout, and coordination of fire sprinkler systems *in accordance with *NFPA standards, *project specifications, and local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and layout *fire sprinkler systems *for commercial and industrial projects
* Prepare *shop drawings, *material lists, and *hydraulic calculations*
* Ensure designs comply with *NFPA codes, *local/state building codes, and insurance requirements
* Coordinate with *architects, engineers, general contractors, and project managers*
* Perform *field surveys *and verify site conditions
* Communicate effectively with *AHJs, fire marshals, and insurance reviewers*
* Manage multiple design projects while meeting deadlines
* Maintain organized project documentation, records, and files
* Provide self-directed work with minimal supervision
Required Qualifications
* *Relevant fire sprinkler design experience*
* *NICET Certification *(preferred; higher levels strongly encouraged)
* Strong working knowledge of *NFPA *and related codes
* Proficiency in *CAD software *(AutoCAD, AutoSPRINK, Revit, or similar)
* Experience with *hydraulic calculation software*
* Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
* Engineering degree or fire protection engineering background (not required)
* Experience working with *multi-state projects*
* Familiarity with commercial, industrial, and special hazard systems
