*About ChemArt*
ChemArt is an industry leader in precision chemical processing and surface finishing, dedicated to engineering excellence, quality, and innovation. We’re seeking a *hands-on Chemical Engineer* to support all stages of product development from research and process design to production support and quality improvement across etching, plating, cleaning, and related wet-chemistry operations.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical skills with curiosity, initiative, and a passion for process control, data-driven problem solving, and continuous improvement.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Plan, conceptualize, and develop process designs and control methods for chemical operations (etching, plating, cleaning, rinsing, waste treatment).
* Develop and implement test methods to monitor key process variables (concentration, pH, temperature, ORP, Baume, conductivity, additive levels, metal content, thickness).
* Utilize in-house lab resources for analytical testing (titrations, CVS/Hull cell, XRF/film thickness, contamination analysis); specify and commission new equipment as needed.
* Author SOPs, one-point lessons, and training videos; deliver hands-on training to SMEs and operators.
* Validate process changes using DOE, MSA, SPC/Cpk/Ppk analysis; prepare technical reports and stakeholder presentations.
* Drive plating quality improvements (coverage, adhesion, brightness, thickness uniformity, porosity) using structured problem-solving techniques.
* Create and review process documentation (PFDs, control plans, PFMEAs, change control packages).
* Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical engineering, operations, quality, EHS, maintenance, and suppliers to implement sustainable improvements.
* Ensure compliance with internal quality systems (ISO 9001/AS9100/ITAR) and safety/environmental regulations.
* Manage project timelines and budgets; track and report progress, savings, and quality outcomes.
* Identify opportunities for process automation and data collection; collaborate with mechanical/electrical teams on controls integration.
* Support root-cause analysis and CAPA for defects, excursions, and customer complaints.
*Qualifications*
* *Education:* B.S. in Chemical Engineering or related field (M.S. preferred).
* *Experience:* 0–5 years in chemical processing, surface finishing, electroplating, or wet-process manufacturing (internship/co-op experience welcome).
* Strong knowledge of electrochemistry, wet-chemistry analysis, and plating/etch chemistries.
* Proficiency with DOE, SPC, MSA/Gage R&R, and structured problem-solving (5-Why, Fishbone, DMAIC).
* Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100, ITAR, OSHA, and environmental safety standards.
* Demonstrated ability to analyze data, design experiments, and translate findings into practical solutions.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to train and mentor others.
* *Bonus Skills:* Experience with XRF film thickness, Hull cell/CVS testing, PLC/HMI systems, or scripting/data analysis tools.
*Core Competencies*
* *Customer Focus* -Anticipates and exceeds customer needs.
* *Technical Mastery* – Applies chemical engineering principles to achieve measurable results.
* *Communication* – Clearly conveys information and actively listens to others.
* *Problem Solving* – Diagnoses issues and implements effective solutions.
* *Results Orientation* – Strives for accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement.
* *Flexibility & Initiative* – Adapts readily and seeks opportunities for innovation.
