About the role
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment within the facility. This role ensures the reliability and efficiency of manufacturing operations by applying engineering principles to electrical maintenance, process improvement, and project execution. The Electrical Engineer also provides technical expertise for troubleshooting, preventive maintenance planning, and compliance with electrical safety standards.
What you'll do
Essential Job Functions
• Design, develop, and maintain electrical systems, equipment, and controls to support production operations.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues with motors, control panels, lighting systems, transformers, and manufacturing machinery.
• Develop and enhance the facility’s Preventive Maintenance Program (PMP) to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Support process modifications and engineering projects related to electrical and control systems.
• Program, test, and maintain PLC and HMI systems for manufacturing automation and control.
• Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
• Assist in procuring and managing electrical components, tools, and parts needed for maintenance and projects.
• Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA standards, and all applicable regulations.
• Prepare technical documentation, schematics, and maintenance reports as required.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) from an ABET accredited school or equivalent technical experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design, PLC and HMI programming, and hardware integration/testing.
• At least 5 years of leadership or project management experience in electrical maintenance, control systems, or power electronics environments.
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, control circuits, and safety practices.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD design software.
• Proficient in PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
• Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70, IEC and IEEE codes, schematics, and documentation standards.
• Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
