About the role
The Electrical Technician III serves as the Lead Technician for assigned shifts and is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical, industrial automation, and wave system equipment at Surf Ranch. This role represents a journeyman-level electrical technician with advanced expertise in industrial power systems, PLC-based automation, and system-level troubleshooting.
What you'll do
- Serve as the Lead Technician responsible for executing and managing all maintenance activities during the scheduled shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and coordinated work execution.
- Direct, prioritize, and adjust maintenance work assignments in real time based on operational demands, equipment condition, and emergent issues.
- Act as the primary maintenance authority on shift, coordinating directly with operations leadership to communicate system status, readiness, risks, and recovery timelines.
- Lead shift turnover activities, including review of outstanding work, equipment conditions, safety concerns, and priority tasks.
- Ensure all work performed during the shift complies with approved SOPs, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Verify completeness, quality, and accuracy of completed work orders prior to equipment return to service.
- Perform system-level diagnostics integrating electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic disciplines to identify root causes of equipment failures.
- Coordinate mechanical and hydraulic repairs with electrical and automation troubleshooting to ensure complete and lasting corrective actions.
- Lead troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of 120/240V, 277/480V, and 4160V systems
- Serve as site authority for Siemens S7 PLCs using TIA Portal
- Diagnose network-level automation faults
- Support Ignition SCADA and HMI systems
- Lead system-level root cause analysis
- Mentor and sign off work from Level I–II technicians
- Lead Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) plans and safety training
- Assign and prioritize work during scheduled shifts
- Create and revise electrical and control documentation
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years industrial electrical and automation experience
- Journeyman-level electrical knowledge
- Siemens S7 / TIA Portal experience
- NFPA 70 / 70E knowledge
- Strong leadership and communication skills
