AI Systems Intern
Location: Johnson Creek, WI
Employment type: Full-time summer hours preferred; flexible schedule available during academic terms

Position Overview
The AI Data & Automation Intern will work directly with leadership and technical staff to explore, design, and implement AI solutions that improve operational efficiency, quoting accuracy, and internal software development workflows.
This role is ideal for a student currently enrolled in an AI, Data Science, Computer Science, or related technical program who is eager to apply classroom knowledge to real-world business challenges.
Key Responsibilities
AI Strategy & Implementation
- Evaluate current business processes and identify high-impact AI opportunities.
- Assist in implementing AI tools to improve quoting accuracy and turnaround time.
- Explore AI agent frameworks to automate workflows and repetitive tasks.
- Develop and test internal AI assistants for business use cases.
- Suggest and prototype automation solutions to reduce manual processes.
Quoting & Process Optimization
- Analyze historical quoting data to identify trends and predictive patterns.
- Build models or tools to improve cost estimation and margin forecasting.
- Create dashboards or reporting tools for performance tracking.
Data & Analytics
- Clean, organize, and analyze manufacturing and operational data.
- Possibly create scripts to build better BI tools based on available MSSQL data.
Research & Recommendations
- Research emerging AI tools and provide recommendations.
- Evaluate AI platforms for cost, security, and ROI.
- Present findings and implementation roadmaps to leadership.
Requirements:
Qualifications
Required:
- Currently pursuing a degree or certification in AI, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Basic understanding of AI concepts (LLMs, machine learning, AI agents).
- Experience with one or more major AI tools (ChatGPT, CoPilot, Claude)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with manufacturing, ERP systems, or quoting systems.
- Experience working with APIs and automation tools.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL
- Knowledge of CNC Machining or Fanuc Robotics.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (Power BI or similar).
