JOB DESCRIPTION: CONTROLS ENGINEER / MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on, floor-based Controls Engineer / Maintenance Technician for a contract opportunity in Bolingbrook, IL. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and maximum uptime of advanced automated manufacturing equipment within an automotive manufacturing facility. The position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and plays a critical role in electrical systems, PLC management, robotics, CNC troubleshooting, and automated system modifications.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform advanced, high-level troubleshooting and breakdown recovery on automated production lines.
• Execute PLC program modifications and system integrations to optimize machine performance and efficiency.
• Maintain, program, and troubleshoot industrial robotics (specifically Fanuc) and CNC machinery.
• Diagnose electrical issues and safely work with industrial electrical systems and automated controls.
• Ensure strict compliance with all plant safety standards, regulatory guidelines, and corporate procedures.
• Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to log, track, and document maintenance and engineering activities.
Technical Requirements & Skills:
• Extensive hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLC systems, including ladder logic, HMI programs, and Safety PLCs.
• Proven track record with Fanuc robots and Fanuc robot programming/troubleshooting.
• Strong proficiency in CNC controls, machine safety systems, vision systems, and electrical schematics.
• Deep understanding of industrial automation systems, electrical troubleshooting, and manufacturing machinery.
• Solid, practical knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, arc flash procedures, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, combined with significant, verifiable field experience in controls engineering or industrial maintenance.
