Control Force is hiring a Lighting Controls Field Service Technician to perform system startups, programming, troubleshooting, and service at customer sites throughout New York City and the surrounding area.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys figuring out how systems work, can troubleshoot methodically, and is comfortable working with both electrical equipment and a laptop. You should be able to communicate clearly with electricians, project managers, and customers—and take ownership of a service visit from arrival through documentation.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Start up, configure, and program lighting control systems.
• Troubleshoot wiring, devices, communication networks, and system programming.
• Perform site surveys, verify installations, and identify issues that need correction.
• Coordinate with electrical contractors and project teams during installation and commissioning.
• Program lighting scenes, schedules, occupancy controls, and daylight-responsive operation.
• Train customers and facility staff on system operation.
• Complete clear service reports documenting work performed, outstanding issues, and next steps.
• Support ongoing maintenance and service for existing installations.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• Hands-on experience with lighting controls, building automation, commercial AV, electrical service, or related low-voltage systems.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with electrical test equipment.
• Comfort using Windows-based software and learning manufacturer-specific programming tools.
• Working knowledge of IP networking and connected devices.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and communicate professionally on active jobsites.
• Availability for travel beyond the NYC area as projects require.
EXPERIENCE THAT STANDS OUT
Experience with Lutron, Acuity nLight, Leviton, Wattstopper, Casambi, Pharos, or other lighting control platforms is especially valuable. Familiarity with 0–10V dimming, phase dimming, occupancy sensors, daylight harvesting, and networked lighting controls is a plus.
You do not need experience with every platform we service. Strong technical fundamentals, sound judgment, and the ability to learn new systems matter.
COMPENSATION
Annual salary of $75,000–$100,000, depending on relevant experience and technical capabilities.
