Communications / Low-Voltage Estimator – Northern VA (Remote Flex) – $90,000–$125,000+
About the Opportunity:
A leading design-build firm supporting mission-critical infrastructure projects is seeking a Communications / Low-Voltage Estimator to join its preconstruction team. This role focuses on White Space Fit-Out (WSFO) scopes for enterprise-level data center projects and offers remote flexibility with periodic site and office visits in the Northern Virginia region. The position provides exposure to high-profile clients, collaboration across departments, and long-term growth potential in one of the fastest-growing technical sectors.
Position Details:
- Title: Communications / Low-Voltage Estimator
- Location: Northern Virginia (Remote Flex)
- Status: Full-Time
- Travel: Local site visits within VA/DC/MD (minimal out-of-region)
Ideal Candidate:
- 2+ years of experience in low-voltage estimating or installation/project management
- Knowledge of Datacom, Telecom, Fiber Optics, and structured cabling systems
- Proficient in Bluebeam – required
- Experience with On-Screen Takeoff, Accubid, or similar platforms – preferred
- Familiarity with UL508A, NEC, NFPA 79, and IEC standards
- Comfortable conducting site walks and translating field conditions into estimates
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop cost estimates and budgets for WSFO low-voltage scopes
- Review RFPs, RFQs, and respond to RFIs for all LV-related items
- Generate ROM and detailed bid-level estimates
- Perform material take-offs for cable trays, strut, fiber/copper, ladder racks, and more
- Source subcontractor/vendor quotes and validate pricing accuracy
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, finance, and procurement teams
- Assist in proposal development and project hand-off documentation
- Support procurement with material lists and change order pricing
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $90,000 – $125,000+ (DOE)
