Relay Technician – Columbus, OH – Up to $45/hr + Overtime + Housing Provided

About the Opportunity:

A leading provider of relay services and protection testing is hiring a Relay Technician to support projects across data centers and critical facilities. This is a field-based role with some hybrid flexibility. The company provides housing and per diem support, making it ideal for those open to travel and hands-on work.

Location:

• Based in Columbus, OH
• Some travel may be required to support other project sites
• Hybrid: Typically 3 weeks on site, 1 week remote (project-dependent)

Compensation & Benefits:

• Hourly Rate: Up to $45/hr (DOE)
• Overtime: Yes – Frequent opportunities available

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience as a Relay Technician or in a similar hands-on electrical testing role
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams
• Familiarity with NETA testing standards and procedures
• Strong troubleshooting skills and collaboration with engineering teams
• Open to travel and working in various environments (plant, field, etc.)

Responsibilities:

• Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relaying equipment and relay schemes
• Work with Digital Fault Recorders (DFRs), SCADA systems, and communication systems
• Conduct functional testing on substation control circuits, transformers, and breakers
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues alongside electrical engineers
• Oversee on-site project activities and maintain strong client relationships
• Ensure accurate documentation and communication across project stakeholders
