About the Opportunity:
A leading Smart Building and IoT Solutions provider is seeking a Controls Design Engineer
to join their growing team in Minnetonka, MN. This key technical position will design building automation solutions
for Fortune 500 clients across North America. The role is primarily on-site (4 days/week) with the flexibility to
work from home 1 day/week.
Position Details:
- Title: Controls Design Engineer – Smart Building Controls Group
- Location: Minnetonka, MN HQ (Hybrid: 4 days in-office, 1 day remote)
- Compensation: $85,000 – $115,000 (DOE)
- Schedule: Primarily on-site with up to 25% travel

Responsibilities:
- Produce AutoCAD control drawings including risers, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
- Draft and edit HVAC & BAS sequences of operation (SOO).
- Specify sensors, controllers, and network components for building automation systems.
- Prepare submittals, wiring diagrams, and addressing plans.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field teams to ensure design accuracy.
- Provide support on RFIs, design reviews, commissioning, and system startup.
- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, NEC, and industry standards.
- Improve and standardize design templates and processes across projects.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience designing BAS/HVAC control systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and construction documentation.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and sequences of operation.
- Hands-on experience with DDC systems: Niagara, Honeywell, JCI, Siemens.
- Understanding of protocols including BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
- Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.
- AS/BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering preferred.
