A leading Building Automation & HVAC integration firm is seeking a motivated Controls Project Manager to drive successful outcomes across retrofit and new construction projects. Ideal for an experienced PM—or a high-performing Controls Technician/Specialist ready to step into project management—this role combines client leadership, schedule/budget ownership, and cross-functional coordination.

Position Details

• Title: Controls Project Manager
• Location: Grand Rapids, MI
• Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 DOE (may be flexible)
• Bonus: Discretionary

Key Responsibilities

• Lead HVAC & building controls projects from kickoff through closeout—scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
• Serve as primary client contact; set expectations, resolve issues, and ensure goals are met.
• Prepare estimates, track costs, and coordinate procurement of materials and services.
• Plan resources, manage subcontractors, and coordinate with field teams and engineering.
• Conduct site visits, quality inspections, and verify compliance with specifications, codes, and safety.
• Identify risks early and implement mitigation to prevent delays.
• Own closeout: final inspections, turnover documentation, and client handover.

Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience as a Project Manager in BAS/HVAC—or a Controls Technician/Specialist ready to transition to PM.
• Strong scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder communication skills.
• Comfortable coordinating cross-functional teams and multiple concurrent projects.
• Familiarity with controls submittals, sequences of operation, and site safety best practices.
• Tech environment includes: Alerton, Nova, Trend; service exposure to Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Trane, Carrier, Tridium.
