Overview:
The Line Patroller position can be based out of Kinder Morgan’s Eunice, LA or Kinder, LA compressor station. This is a Monday through Friday position with on-call responsibilities nights and weekends.

Primary Purpose:
Implement the company’s Damage Prevention Program including performing and coordinating work group activities including patrolling, locating, construction inspection, and excavation inspection of Company gas/liquids pipelines, appurtenances, compressor stations, process plants and other related facilities.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Locate and mark facilities per Company Damage Prevention Program and One-Call procedures prior to and during encroachment excavation.
- Perform pipeline patrols, population density surveys, leak detection surveys and inspections per Company procedures.
- Coordinate local/state Damage Prevention activities. ·Provide oversight and inspection to ensure asset protection and compliance with Company procedures of excavation activities near pipeline facilities.
- Responsible for inspection of projects primarily relating to excavation near pipeline facilities and repair of pipeline facilities.
- Responsible for inspection duties per Company policies including; completion of required documentation, as-built drawings, contractor oversight and supervision, act as Company representative during construction activities, report progress to Operations and Project Manager and ensure proper reporting and compliance with Safety and Environmental policies.
- Participates in quality emergency responder programs.
- Must be proficient and detailed oriented to accurately process State One-Call locate requests from excavators and contractors using company software.
- Represent the Company during contacts with landowners/tenants, public officials, emergency officials, general public and local organizations (One-Call, Pipeline Associations, Department of Transportation-PHMSA, etc.).
- Inspect/oversee the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties.
- Train and oversee Company and third party personnel as required.
- Perform governmental compliance activities (Department of Transportation-PHMSA, State Agencies, Environmental Protection Agency, etc.).
- Perform and oversee mapping, house count surveys, record keeping, and data entry duties per Company policies.
- Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
- Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.
- Participate in the development of O&M Procedures, Site Specific Procedures, project scopes, and work plans.
- Complete all applicable documentation and record keeping.
- Assist with all Gas Operation - Pipeline and Compressor Station activities as required.
- Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, regulatory and tariff requirements.
- Regular and predictable work attendance
- Demonstrate performance toward Operational Excellence.

Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED
Experience / specific knowledge:
- Experience in natural gas pipeline safety regulations, construction, inspection, operations and maintenance, specifically related to line locating and damage prevention is a strong plus.
Certifications, licenses, registrations:
- Valid Driver’s license
- Achieve and maintain all qualifications and progression requirements applicable to the job classification
- May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties
- Company may require CDL and HazMat endorsement for future work activities.
Competencies, skills, and abilities:
- Good record of safe work practices and work with an open and positive attitude.
- Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, various operation systems and other company software).
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, alignment sheets, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams and other drawings.
- Good verbal and written communications skills.
- Must be able to work with a team, work in an unsupervised environment, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedule, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details and follow work rules.
- Ability to speak and understand English.
Physical demands:
- Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions
- Must be able to frequently:Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and 50 pounds from floor to waist.
- Enter confined spaces
- Climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways
- Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells, carry up to 50 pounds and to see, hear, walk and talk effectively.
Working conditions:
- Must respond to, and address, callouts and emergencies after regulabusiness hours
- May be required to carry a company-provided cell phone/pager, and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
- Depending on location and workload, travel will be required
- Be available for shift work when applicable.
Supervisory responsibility:
Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:
- Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
- Knowledge of operating costs and best practices associated with the equipment in the area of responsibility.
- Knowledge of company policies, procedures and practices, regulatory and tariff requirements.
- Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high and low pressure systems.
- Detailed knowledge of compressor or pump station, terminal, process plant, gas treatment, storage facilities, gathering and transmission pipeline systems operations.
