Our Systems Specialists help bring smart buildings to life through the installation, startup, commissioning, and optimization of advanced building automation systems (BAS). Working with HVAC controls, direct digital controls (DDC), building management systems (BMS), and networked building technologies, you'll support customers in creating safer, more efficient, and more sustainable facilities.

A Day in the Life

One day you may be commissioning a new building automation system at a hospital. The next, you could be troubleshooting BACnet or network communication issues across a university campus, optimizing HVAC control sequences at a data center, supporting system integrations within an industrial facility, or training customers on newly installed smart building technologies.

No two projects are the same. You'll solve real-world challenges while helping customers maximize performance, sustainability, reliability, and energy efficiency.

You will make an impact by:

• Commissioning new Building Automation Systems (BAS), Direct Digital Controls (DDC), and HVAC control systems on customer construction sites while meeting project schedules and quality standards.
• Supporting smart building technologies by verifying system databases, programming, graphics, and sequences of operation.
• Collaborating with Lead Technicians and Team Leaders to plan and execute project startup and commissioning activities.
• Assisting with network configuration, backup procedures, and troubleshooting building automation networks including BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus, and IP-based communication systems.
• Supporting the setup and configuration of operator workstations, user interfaces, building management systems (BMS), and automation software platforms.
• Performing operational testing, verification, commissioning, and acceptance testing to ensure systems function according to design intent.
• Running analytical reports to evaluate system performance, identify issues, and support optimization efforts.
• Training customers on system operations, building automation functionality, and ongoing system best practices.
• Maintaining accurate documentation including commissioning records, service reports, and as-built control system documentation.
• Coordinating startup activities with project teams, subcontractors, and customers to support successful project execution.
• Supporting customer facilities that include hospitals, higher education campuses, commercial office buildings, industrial facilities, manufacturing sites, and data centers.
• Working occasional overtime, rotational on-call schedules, and limited overnight travel as business needs require.
• Following all Siemens, customer, and OSHA safety standards while delivering exceptional customer service.

You will make an impact with these qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience installing, commissioning, servicing, or troubleshooting building automation systems, HVAC controls, electronic controls, or related equipment.
• Electro-mechanical experience through previous work experience, military experience, apprenticeship, internship, or formal education.
• Experience using computers, software applications, and mobile technologies in a technical field environment.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret design drawings, control diagrams, specifications, and construction documents.
• Exposure to building automation systems, HVAC systems, DDC controls, networking concepts, or related technologies.
• Ability and willingness to work in a variety of environments including roofs, equipment rooms, above ceilings, mechanical spaces, crawl spaces, and construction sites.
• Ability and willingness to use hand tools, laptops, mobile devices, testing equipment, and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted.
• Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Ability and willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, HVAC Technology, Building Automation, or a related field.
• Exposure to BAS, BMS, HVAC controls, DDC programming, BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus, Niagara, Tridium, Siemens Desigo, Siemens Apogee, or system integration technologies.
• Previous internship or work experience supporting building automation, controls, commissioning, or HVAC systems.
