About the Opportunity:
A leading building automation contractor is actively seeking a Controls Programmer (Level II or III) to support its growing operations in the Austin metro. This position is perfect for a hands-on controls professional looking for a hybrid role with a balance of field deployment and remote programming (60% remote).
You’ll work on municipal and education-focused projects, creating BAS programs from scratch, developing interface graphics, and troubleshooting systems for a variety of clients ranging from schools to healthcare to commercial facilities.

- Title: Controls Programmer
- Location: Austin, TX (60% Remote, 40% Field)
- Salary: $90,000 – $110,000
- Schedule: Full-Time
- Territory: Greater Austin area (rare travel beyond city)
What You'll Do:
- Develop custom BAS programs and user interface graphics
- Commission and test building automation systems on-site
- Troubleshoot and optimize existing BAS programs and sequences
- Create controls databases and ensure programs align with project requirements
- Interpret construction drawings, technical documents, and specs
- Work closely with installation and commissioning teams for smooth system startup
- Perform point-to-point checkout and ensure systems are fully functional
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and internal teams effectively
Ideal Background:
- 3+ years of experience in BAS programming or controls technician roles
- Proficiency in line programming
- Strong understanding of BACnet communication protocols
- Familiar with commissioning protocols and controls integration best practices
- Comfortable working independently in the field and as part of a team remotely
