Controls Programmer – South Amboy, NJ – $100,000–$130,000 (DOE)

A leading HVAC Mechanical and Building Automation contractor is seeking a skilled Controls Programmer to join their growing team in North New Jersey. This role is a blend of office-based and field support work, offering an excellent opportunity to take ownership of controls programming across various project types. The company serves diverse markets including healthcare, data centers, education, and commercial facilities.

Position Details:

• Title: Controls Programmer
• Location: South Amboy, NJ
• Work Environment: Primarily office-based with some field coordination
• Status: Full-Time

Ideal Candidate:

• 5+ years of experience as a BAS Controls Programmer or similar role
• Proficient in Tridium N4 (preferred), BACnet, and related protocols
• Experience with Distech, Johnson Metasys, Honeywell, Trane Tracer, Carrier systems
• Strong understanding of sequence writing, database creation, and system architecture
• Skilled in commissioning, point-to-point checkout, and troubleshooting
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with building owners and end users
• Ability to manage multiple programs from start to finish with minimal supervision

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and program custom applications from scratch or use prepackaged libraries
• Design and develop controls databases and graphics interfaces (e.g., Tridium front end)
• Modify and improve existing installed BAS programs
• Ensure controls programming aligns with project requirements and commissioning protocols
• Collaborate with the service team and contractors to support project execution
• Provide technical support and program updates as needed
