Controls Engineer – Marlborough, MA – Energy Management & Building Automation – $80K–$105K
About the Opportunity:
An established energy management and building automation solutions provider is seeking a Controls Engineer to join its growing team in the greater Boston area. This role focuses on supporting the design, implementation, and commissioning of energy-efficient controls projects for a variety of commercial and institutional facilities. You’ll work closely with field electricians, mechanical teams, and clients to ensure projects are delivered with excellence.

- Salary: $80,000 – $105,000 (DOE)

Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, design, configure, and repair building automation control systems
- Visit client sites to assess and recommend upgrades, retrofits, or enhancements
- Develop control drawings, sequences of operation (SOO), and programming for projects
- Assist with job layouts, bid proposals, and cost estimating
- Support project scheduling, material selection, ordering, and delivery coordination
- Work in the field alongside controls technicians, mechanical teams, and electricians to ensure quality installations
- Collaborate on energy efficiency solutions in retrofit and service projects (not new construction)
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience as a Controls Engineer or similar role
- Hands-on knowledge of Niagara, Johnson Controls, or Honeywell building automation systems
- Familiarity with building automation communication protocols
- Strong ability to create sequences of operations and detailed control drawings
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical teams and clients
