NETA Field Service Technician (II–IV) – Dallas, TX – Power Distribution & Testing
About the Opportunity
A NETA-accredited field services group is hiring experienced
NETA Field Service Technicians (Level II, III, and IV) to perform acceptance, maintenance,
and commissioning tests on low, medium, and high voltage power distribution equipment.
This role includes regional travel across North Texas, competitive pay with sign-on bonus, overtime eligibility,
a company vehicle, and strong benefits.
Position Details
- Title: NETA Field Service Technician (Level II, III, or IV)
- Location: Northern Texas (regional travel within ~2–4 hours)
- Travel: ~50% overall; overnight rotation every ~3 weeks for 1–3 nights
- Schedule: Occasional extended days; overtime eligible
- Vehicle: Company vehicle provided (fuel, maintenance, corporate card)
- Per Diem: $70/day for travel
Compensation
- Level II: $35.00–$50.00/hr (flexible). Company-paid NETA test; +$7/hr upon advancing to Level III.
- Level III/IV: $55.00–$85.00/hr (flexible). Company-paid NETA test; +$4/hr upon advancing to Level IV.
- Sign-On Bonus (paid over time):
- Level II: $14,000 (negotiable). $3,500 at first paycheck; $3,500 at first paycheck of year two; remainder through year three.
- Level III/IV: $20,000–$35,000 (negotiable). $5,000+ at first paycheck; $5,000+ at first paycheck of year two; remainder through year three.
- Overtime: 1.5x for 8–12 hours/day; 2x for 12+ hours/day (time-and-a-half most common).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform NETA-standard acceptance and maintenance testing on LV/MV/HV power systems.
- Test & calibrate instrument transformers and related apparatus.
- Execute transformer testing (e.g., TTR) and cable testing for integrity and reliability.
- Conduct primary and secondary injection testing for protection verification.
- Test, service, and maintain circuit breakers and switchgear across voltage classes.
- Perform comprehensive protective relay testing and verification.
- Troubleshoot, inspect, and commission systems: switchgear, breakers, transformers, cables, relays, VFDs, ATS.
- Complete field repairs, diagnostics, parts replacement, and recommissioning.
- Document test results and create clear, standards-compliant reports.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, procedures, and industry standards.
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as a NETA Field Service Technician (II, III, or IV) or similar role in power testing.
- Certification: Active NETA II/III/IV preferred (Level II candidates must have solid experience; not entry-level). NICET Power Testing also considered.
- Hands-on expertise with protective relays, transformers, breakers, switchgear, and MCCs.
- Skilled with primary/secondary injection, relay test sets, and acceptance/maintenance procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting ability in industrial/commercial electrical environments.
- Excellent safety record, documentation habits, and customer-facing communication.
