Position Details

• Title: Controls Project Manager
• Location: Union City, CA (serving the Bay Area)
• Compensation: $90,000 – $130,000 (based on experience)
• Bonus: Structured Incentive Plan + Annual Profit Sharing
• Employment Type: Full-Time
• Travel: Bay Area project sites

Key Responsibilities

• Lead controls and automation projects from estimating and design through construction and commissioning
• Review and provide contract feedback to ensure accurate scope, value, and terms prior to execution
• Develop detailed project plans and coordinate labor, materials, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery
• Create and maintain project schedules, updating weekly to reflect progress and key milestones
• Collaborate with field superintendents and estimators to establish accurate labor breakdowns and phasing plans
• Conduct weekly construction meetings and maintain production goals to ensure on-time project completion
• Manage submittals, procurement, and approval processes for all equipment and materials
• Prepare and negotiate monthly progress billings with clients to ensure proper cash flow
• Deliver monthly project updates and financial forecasts to the Project Executive
• Oversee project closeout, including startup, commissioning, and documentation submission

Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience as a Controls Project Manager or in a similar HVAC/automation project management role
• Experience with data center, lab, or office buildout projects strongly preferred
• Knowledge of Distech and Honeywell systems (Tridium-based platforms a plus)
• Strong communication, budgeting, scheduling, and organizational skills
• Collaborative mindset and ability to lead diverse project teams
• Detail-oriented with a focus on customer satisfaction and financial performance
