About the Opportunity:
A leading building automation and energy controls contractor is seeking a Submittal Engineer to join their growing team in the Dallas area. This role is ideal for experienced field controls technicians or electricians who want to transition into a technical office-based role with 60% remote flexibility.
You'll collaborate with project managers and design engineers to produce submittal packages for high-profile commercial and institutional projects across North Texas.
Position Details:
- Title: Submittal Engineer
- Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid – 60% Remote)
- Salary: $75,000 – $95,000
- Type: Full-Time, Permanent
- Travel: Local only – rare travel outside Dallas area
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed submittal documentation for building automation systems including HVAC, lighting, and energy controls
- Review technical documents, specifications, and drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and standards
- Work closely with design engineers, project managers, and contractors to deliver submittals that meet customer and project requirements
- Submit, track, and update documents throughout the approval process
- Revise documentation in response to engineer or contractor feedback
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to obtain cut sheets, certifications, and technical data
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all documentation
- Support resolution of technical issues related to submittals during the design and build process
- Stay informed on trends, code changes, and new technologies in the BAS and energy management industry
Preferred Background:
- Former Controls Technician, Electrician, or Installer ready for an office-based role
- Experience with submittals for BAS systems (HVAC, lighting, energy management)
- Working knowledge of BACnet and Reliable, Schneider, or Delta controls preferred
- Strong document control and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and collaboration skills
