A well-established building automation contractor is seeking a Submittal Engineer to join their growing team in Austin. This is an ideal opportunity for experienced field technicians or electricians ready to move into a primarily office-based role focused on technical documentation and systems design support.

Position Details:

• Title: Submittal Engineer
• Location: Austin, TX (hybrid – 60% remote)
• Salary: $75,000 – $95,000
• Schedule: Monday–Friday
• Travel: Minimal (local to Austin area)

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed submittal packages for HVAC and building automation systems (BAS), including lighting and energy controls
• Review drawings and technical documents to ensure compliance with industry and project-specific standards
• Coordinate submittal content with project managers, design engineers, and contractors
• Revise and update submittals based on reviewer feedback
• Work with vendors to obtain relevant certifications and product documentation
• Manage submittal records, revisions, and documentation for future project reference
• Stay informed on current BAS technologies, products, and code changes to ensure submittal accuracy
• Support project lifecycle needs related to design documentation and submittals

Preferred Background:

• Prior experience as a Submittal Engineer, BAS Controls Technician, or related field role
• Familiarity with HVAC and building automation systems (Reliable, Tridium, Schneider, etc.)
• Strong understanding of control systems documentation, design specs, and compliance standards
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with internal teams and external stakeholders
