BAS Software Engineer – Grand Rapids, MI – Building Automation and Energy Systems Integrator
Overview:
Are you a detail-oriented Building Automation programmer looking to work on meaningful projects that make buildings smarter and more efficient? This role offers the chance to lead the development and deployment of advanced BAS programming solutions for new and retrofit construction projects throughout West Michigan. The ideal candidate brings experience with Tridium and BACnet, strong programming skills, and the ability to collaborate with engineering and installation teams.
Position Details:
- Title: BAS Software Engineer
- Location: Grand Rapids, MI (mostly in-office)
- Salary: Up to $110,000 (flexible based on experience)

Key Responsibilities:
- Program BAS applications using prepackaged libraries or custom logic
- Create controls databases and Tridium front-end graphics from scratch
- Test, troubleshoot, and commission building automation systems (point-to-point)
- Ensure programming meets project specs and timeline goals
- Collaborate with project engineers and field installers to coordinate system functionality
- Work with BACnet and other industry protocols for effective system communication
- Support project closeout and turnover documentation
Preferred Experience:
- 3–7+ years of experience in a similar BAS programming or controls engineering role
- Hands-on experience with Tridium/Niagara required
- Familiarity with Alerton, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, or Trend platforms a plus
- Comfortable reading wiring diagrams and coordinating with install/startup teams
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
