HVAC BAS Controls Specialist (Traveling) – Based in New York, NY – Energy Efficiency Projects Across the U.S. & Canada

As a HVAC BAS Controls Specialist, you’ll take the technical lead on large-scale energy performance projects involving retrofits and BAS integrations across a range of sectors. This position is based in New York and requires up to 80% travel across North America.

Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the BAS lead for large-scale mechanical and controls retrofit projects
- Conduct surveys of existing BAS systems during the design phase
- Analyze current sequences of operation and mechanical system performance
- Develop control strategies and write programs from scratch
- Perform point-to-point checkout, system commissioning, and start-ups (including chillers and boilers)
- Coordinate with contractors, project managers, and construction teams to ensure successful delivery
- Support the development of RFPs and design documentation
- Train on-site staff on BAS operation and system performance monitoring
- Contribute to ongoing post-installation performance tracking and optimization
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on BAS programming and mechanical systems integration
- Strong experience with air handlers, VAV systems, and HVAC efficiency strategies
- Proficiency in at least one major controls platform (Delta, Distech, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, etc.)
- Ability to travel frequently, including across international borders (U.S. & Canada)
